She is a Toronto based artist currently designing with the Shaw Festival and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Some of her past design credits include: Hadrian and Louis Riel (costumes, Canadian Opera Company); An Octoroon , The Russian Play and Stage Kiss (set/costumes, Shaw Festival); Long Day’s Journey Into Night, The Physicists and The Three Musketeers (costumes, Stratford Festival); Hirsch (set/costumes, Stratford Festival); King Lear, Stuff Happens and Thirsty (set & costumes, National Arts Centre); Idomeneus, The Testament of Mary and Incident at Vichy (costumes, Soulpepper); A Christmas Carol (set, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre) Million Dollar Quartet, Hand to God andSeminar (set & costumes, RMTC); The Runner, The Road To Paradise and Night (set & costumes, Human Cargo); One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (costumes, Theatre Calgary/Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre), The Kite Runner (costumes, Theatre Calgary/Citadel Theatre);A Christmas Carol, Pride and Prejudice and Cinderella (costumes, The Grand Theatre).
Gillian is the 2018 recipient of the Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award in Costume Design. She has been nominated for 8 Dora Mavor Moore awards, and has received 4. Gillian studied design for the theatre at York University and graduated with an honours BFA.
